Francis's Story

Founding Members

Francis Dion, callsign Shadow

Founder, Social Media Manager, Chief fundraiser.

From Canada, Francis arrived in Ukraine the first week of march 2022, fighing alongside the National Guard in Irpin and Izyum, before joining the ILDU DIU in September 2022. Francis is currently working in a drone unit, after spending 8 months recovering from wounds from the battlefield.

Lena, Callsign Maple

Director

Ukrainian Canadian currently serving in the International Special Operations Battalion of the National Guard of Ukraine with previous experience in Humanitarian Mine Clearance in deoccupied territories of Ukraine.

Olena’s background is in Quantum Physics, Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence

HURTz

Chief Engineer

HURTz, a Canadian FPV drone builder, HAM and licensed pilot. A former visual effects artist and filmmaker, he moved to Ukraine in 2024 to volunteer as an FPV pilot instructor for the 25th Airborne Brigade.

He has engineered fiber optic drones, designed custom battery mounts for DOF bombers, developing fixed-wing bomber components, and is currently creating ISR and Shahed interceptors for air defense.

HURTz recently obtained his Ukrainian residency.

FPV Courses & Training

Learn FPV drone building for combat or study. We have 3+ years fighting in Ukraine and 18 months building FPV drones locally, focused on military drone warfare. Courses are available to Tier 1 donors to Doves Of Freedom, donations fund FPV parts.
